CORPORATION
Corporate
members agree to identify and implement specific initiatives on an
ongoing basis designed to enhance opportunities for minority
attorneys within their organizations and within those
organizations with which they do business.
Those initiatives include, among other things, best efforts
to accomplish the following:
1.
Advise
all law firms which serve the corporation as outside counsel that
-
the
corporation is committed to enhancing opportunities for minority
attorneys within its organization;
-
the
corporation expects each such law firm to share that commitment
and to take specific steps to enhance such opportunities within
its organization. Included
among the tools it should consider are recruitment, hiring,
retention and advancement programs for minorities within the firm;
including minority attorneys within the firm whose experience,
background and/or interests suit the legal needs of the
corporation within the group of attorneys who represent the
corporation, in addition to any other steps that the law firm
might take to advance this objective;

law
firms’ actions and results in this area will be considered as a
factor in its continued association with the corporation in
addition to factors such as quality of work, results, cost
effectiveness, etc.
2.
Endeavor
periodically to assess the performance of outside counsel in
utilizing minority attorneys, based on the corporate
participant’s own business dealings with outside counsel.
3.
Actively
pursue initiatives to increase the flow of business going from the
corporation to minority attorneys.
4.
Endeavor
to establish ongoing business relationships with additional
minority owned law firms and minority attorneys at majority-owned
law firms beyond those the corporation currently employs as
outside counsel.
5.
Implement
recruitment, hiring, retention and advancement programs for
minority attorneys within the corporation.
6.
Participate
in the Annual Evaluation of GCMCP, provide representation at the
Mid Year Meeting and the Annual
Conference, if such projects are undertaken in any year by the GCMCP.
Membership
Fee
GCMCP
is member funded. Each
corporation member pays an annual
(January to January) fee of $2,500 to support our staffing,
conferences, web site and all other activities.

INDIVIDUAL
Individual
practitioners agree to identify and implement specific initiatives
on an on-going basis designed to enhance opportunities for
minority attorneys within those organizations with which they do
business. Those initiatives include, among other things best efforts to
accomplish the following:

Enter
into joint venture or other formal associations with
majority-owned firms, minority-owned firms as well as other
individual practitioners, where practicable;
2.
Refer,
where practicable, conflict situations to other GCMCP member
firms, including minority-owned law firms and minority attorneys
at majority-owned law firms;
3.
Participate
in the Annual Evaluation of the GCMCP and
provide representation at the Mid Year Meeting and the Annual
Conference, if such projects are undertaken in any year by the GCMCP.
Membership
Fee
GCMCP
is member funded. Each
individual member pays an annual
(January to January) fee of $100 to support our staffing,
conferences, web site and all other activities.

MAJORITY
OWNED LAW FIRMS
Majority-owned
law firms agree to identify and implement specific initiatives on
an ongoing basis designed to enhance opportunities for minority
attorneys within their organizations and within those
organizations with which they do business.
Those initiatives include, among other things, best efforts
to accomplish the following:
1.
Implement,
recruitment, hiring, retention and advancement programs to foster
the representation of minority attorneys at the partnership and
associate levels within the firm.
2.
Ensure
that minority attorneys within the firm whose experience,
background and/or interests suit the legal needs of clients are
included among those who represent such clients;
3.
Initiate,
where practicable, joint ventures or other formal associations
with minority-owned law firms;
4.
Request,
where applicable, that all law firms which serve as associate
counsel, co-counsel or local counsel to the firm assist in the
furtherance of the firm’s commitment to the objectives of the
GCMCP through the adoption of these goals;
5.
Refer,
where practicable, conflict situations to other GCMCP members,
including minority-owned law firms and majority-owned law firms;
6.
Take
such additional steps as are practicable to foster and enhance
relations between the majority-owned law firm and minority-owned
law firms, including, but not limited to, providing educational
and training opportunities in furtherance of the objectives of the
GCMCP;
7.
Participate
in the Annual Evaluation of GCMCP and
provide representation at the Mid Year Meeting and the Annual
Conference, if such projects are undertaken in any year by the GCMCP.
Membership

Public
sector organizations agree to identify and implement specific
initiatives on an ongoing basis designed to enhance opportunities
for minority attorneys within their organizations and within those
organizations with which they do business.
Those initiatives include, among other things, best efforts
to accomplish the following:
1.
Advise
all law firms which serve the organization as outside counsel that

the
organization is committed to enhance opportunities for minority
attorneys within its organization;

the

its organization, including, among other things, implementing

public sector organization (PSO) member with the proper
documentation is exempt from fees.
