Background:
The Greater
Cincinnati Minority Counsel Program (GCMCP), based on the American
Bar Association’s Minority Counsel Demonstration Program and the
California Minority Counsel Program was founded upon a shared
commitment among corporations, majority law firms, minority law
firms and public sector organizations of Greater Cincinnati.
GCMCP was conceived and created
by the Cincinnati Bar Association and the Black Lawyers
Association of Cincinnati Roundtable.
Purpose:
The Greater
Cincinnati Minority Counsel Program is a coalition of Greater
Cincinnati corporations, majority-owned law firms, and minority
–owned law firms, public sector and recently welcomed associate
members.
The entities work together to
specifically provide minority attorneys equal opportunity to
compete for corporate legal work and to generally ensure a fair
and just legal community.
Mission:
The mission of GCMCP is to increase the
volume, value and significance of corporate legal work managed,
billed, and performed by minority attorneys implementing a
partnership among corporations, majority-owned law firms,
minority-owned law firms, and public sector organizations.
Minority attorneys are defined to be
Black or African American, Hispanic or Latino, Native Hawaiian or
other Pacific Islander, Asian, American Indian, Alaska Native, or
two or more races, one of which is listed above.
Who are the Members?
GCMCP
Signatory Membership is currently nearly 25 corporations, law
firms and professional service providers as Associate members.
Active membership is defined by
payment of annual contributions, attendance of
conferences/programs, and the completion of evaluation forms.
