WHAT IS THE GREATER CINCINNATI MINORITY COUNSEL PROGRAM AND WHAT
IS ITS PURPOSE?
The
Greater Cincinnati Minority Counsel Program (GCMCP)
is a coalition of Greater Cincinnati corporations, majority-
owned law firms, minority- owned law firms and public
sector organizations working together to specifically
provide minority attorneys equal opportunity to compete
for corporate legal work and to generally ensure a fair
and just legal community.

HOW AND BY WHOM WAS IT FOUNDED?
The
GCMCP, based on the American Bar Association’s Minority
Counsel Demonstration Program and the California Minority
Counsel Program was founded upon a shared commitment
among corporations, majority law firms, minority law
firms and public sector organizations of Greater Cincinnati.
GCMCP was conceived and created by the Cincinnati Bar
Association and Black Lawyers Association of Cincinnati
Roundtable.

WHO ARE ITS MEMBERS?
GCMCP
membership include major corporations, public sector
organizations, majority-owned law firms, minority-owned
law firms and sponsor organizations who share a
commitment to increase opportunities for minority
attorneys in the assignment of legal work. Our
members realize the competitive strength gained from
diverse perspectives on legal issues.
Membership is defined by payment of annual contributions,
attendance of conferences, and the completion of directory /
evaluation forms.

WHAT ARE THE ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP DUES?
Membership dues are
determined each year during our annual conference.
The membership period begins immediately following our
Annual Conference, the last Tuesday of September.

HOW WILL MY ORGANIZATION BENEFIT BY JOINING?
Generally,
GCMCP provide minority attorneys the opportunity to make contact
and network with corporate counsel. While the program cannot
guarantee that the contacted corporate counsel will retain the
attorney, GCMCP provide the networking and contact
opportunities through a variety of programs and services to its
members, a sampling include:

ANNUAL AND MID- YEAR CONFERENCES
Each
participating organization receives two complimentary
registrations with payment of their annual contribution dues.

ROUNDTABLE SERIES
Participating
corporate attorneys and law firm attorneys are invited free of
charge.
►
GCMCP DIRECTORY OF
PARTICIPANTS
A
copy of the GCMCP Directory of Participants is
available to each participating member. All members will have their
directory information carried on-line free.

MEMBER NEWSLETTERS
The
GCMCP Member Newsletter, published semi- annually and made
available to participants, contain information on GCMCP activities,
as well as articles of interest to GCMCP members.

eBRIEFS
A
bi-monthly electronic newsletter to keep our members abreast
of GCMCP activities.
►
EVALUATION REPORT
The
GCMCP prepares an annual evaluation of the Program,
which summarizes information about work performed for
GCMCP corporate participants by participating law firms
(i. e. work given to minority firms or to minority attorneys
at majority firms). GCMCP uses the evaluation to determine
our members’ successes and concerns. The results are
published in the Annual Evaluation Report and distributed
to members only at the Annual Conference.

SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
The GCMCP provides a variety of
opportunities for member sponsorship through out the year.
This gives your organization visibility in the Greater Cincinnati
legal community, providing the opportunity to support our mission
of providing opportunities to minority attorneys in the assignment
of corporate legal assignments.

HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE IN THE GCMCP?
You
can encourage your organization to join the GCMCP. An information
packet can be mailed directly to you and/ or your organization’s
General Counsel/ Managing Partner. If you would like to have
