Message from the Executive Director

Greetings!

Welcome to the Greater Cincinnati Minority Counsel Program (GCMCP) official website.  As the Executive Director I work with member signatories, furthering our objective of providing opportunities to connect talented lawyers with one another to address the underrepresentation of minority attorneys.

The mission of the GCMCP is to increase the opportunities for minority attorneys’ to fully participate in the assignment of corporate legal work by encouraging partnerships among corporate counsel, majority-owned law firms, minority-owned law firms and public sector organizations. By participating in the GCMCP, participants formally acknowledge their commitment to the objective of diversity in the workplace and commit to undertake specific, tangible and measurable steps on an ongoing basis to promote opportunities for minority attorneys at all levels in their organizations, and to actively encourage those with whom they do business to do likewise.

With rapidly changing demographics coupled with increased marketplace globalization, now more than ever, it is imperative for corporations, law firms, and public sector organizations to employ a workforce that reflect the broadest spectrum of perspectives and backgrounds to remain competitive. Diversity is no longer solely a social or political issue; it is a good business strategy. GCMCP provide the impetus, which helps our member signatories draw from a larger pool of talent and resources.

Our accomplishments have been numerous.  GCMCP has grown in member signatories, incorporated a Six Sigma quality membership recruitment strategy, developed an infrastructure that ensures membership contributions, and most importantly increased assignments of legal work to minority attorneys and minority law firms within the Greater Cincinnati area.  In the current economic climate, forging new relationships while strengthening existing ones is crucial to developing and maintaining a strong successful practice.   As we move forward, we are focused on providing added benefits for our current membership including this website which provide an online database of our membership and highlights our accomplishments, regular networking and business development opportunities to build relationships between minority and corporate counsels, along with creative ways to expand opportunities for minority attorneys in the assignment of corporate legal work.

The sustained support of our members can be directly attributed to the program’s continued growth and success.  I encourage your active participation in the GCMCP and invite you to join us in advancing our mission!
